The parkruns are called time trials, and the Cardiff course took me 15.40 and Sian 19.00 yesterday. It was a great way to start the weekend, the course is along the Taff Trail, and much flatter than the Bridge Inn. It's also a lovely scenic setting if you ever get chance to run.

The summer never is good for me, a combination of pollen, too much light to get enough sleep, and in the last week the wind, all make me believe I can run faster, but it's also true that I was out to enjoy the weekend rather than race hard. I was in a fairly comfortable lead most of the time, and although I was feeling tired in the last K, I'm not sure that wasn't in my head as much as my legs.

That was the first part of Sian's birthday weekend, and after the run, another jog along the Taff, and coffee in Tescos, we headed out to Cardiff Bay and a night at the St David's hotel, which has a Spa. There's a swimming pool and gym if you can't be doing with all this spa stuff. Cardiff Bay is an interesting place, half the arts, restaurants with pre and post theater dining, and posh hotels with Lambourginis parked outside, and half stag and hen nights. It was very nice in the warm weather.

..and so now Sian's got a year to get fit for a fast marathon in a new age group - such is the way masters athletes see the world!!
