In the end I won this month's Bridge in 15.45, after I had struggled to keep up with Gary H. for much of the race. It was a windy night and I didn't want to over do it before the last K, but in the middle of the race I really found the going tough. Gary was going well, and after the turn he was a good few metres ahead of me for a while.
I struggled on, and almost against the odds stayed just about in touch until the last half mile, and as the finish approached I managed to get things back together and finished well over the last 500m. Gary was a few steps behind, and the undoubtedly talented, if a little busy with studies, Dave Green was just a short way back. Gary seemed to think it was a Bridge PB for him - which would be very good in that wind.
Sian (19.19) was a little slower than last month (so were most people in the wind), Robyn won in 18.10, and it was good to see Rebecca back in the fray in second.
..and there is now a pair of shoes prize for the fastest person over all the races in the series - we can''t make the July race, it will interesting to see who can make them all!!
