I won at Longleat today, I think it's the first race I've won since September, and that was in the States. The race had been rearranged, and the course, which is very hilly anyway, changed. So perhaps it wasn't surprising that this wasn't one of my toughest races at Longleat.
In truth I over did it a bit on the first hill, but once I'd sorted things out I was safely in the lead and counting the Ks. There was a nasty extra bit to the usual course around 7K, but once I was through that, there's just one hill to climb and by 8K the race is pretty much done and dusted, most of the last K is along the gentle slope of the straight drive leading to Longleat house. I finished around 33.40, a bit slower than last year, but all in all I was pleased with a hard run out on a Sunday morning.
It was good to see Mike Gratton and everybody else again, and there were plenty of runners and supporters there ....and in such a nice surroundings it was a nice trip on a Sunday morning.
