Bristol and West won the men's 6 stage and were second in the women's 4 stage relays today!!!!! The youngsters finished 8th and the vets 24th - which was a good team performance, but with hindsight and 20/20 vision and all that, we'll probably do it differently next time.

Kevin was in the lead by the end of the first leg, Craig had a comformtable lead by the end of the second leg, and Jon, Tom R, Phil W and Rob W. gradually built up a one and a half minute lead by the end of the race. The margin and manner of victory was hardly believable, the whole team ran under 18 mins, and their times were less than 30s apart.

Mike's day was almost complete as the women finished second. Katie K. made a good start, finishing 4th on the first leg (only 32s behind Wendy Nicholls in second) but it was Kate G. who really ran well on the day, breaking 15 mins. Helen held onto third place, and Steph got a place to finish the team second.

The B&W "C" and "D" teams were Juniors and Masters, a big ask to keep up with other senior teams. Harry W. on the first leg and Rich P. on the last leg were the fastest juniors, as the team finished 8th, excellent news for the coming years! Steve McG. was the fastest B team runner, as they stayed ahead of the vets until I eventually got past Dan N. on the last leg. Perhaps it was too much for the vets though, we finished 24th with what we thought was a good team, but you need an exceptional team to compete with seniors. Dan got us off to a good start, but we struggled after that, and I doubt whether Mick or myself will be looking forward to doing that again.

So that's my last race in this country for a while, hopefully things will go well when I'm away - we'll see.
