The Wellington 10 includes a 10 Mile and a 10K, I think the 10K is the less competitive race, I won in 34.17 from Paul Wilson, who was ahead of a few younger athletes. Anna Lewis won the womens race, just over half a minute ahead on Sian in second.

It's true I don't want to push too hard before the Euro Masters, the pollen was high and I'm not going to risk my back on downhill, but this is a deceptively slow course. It's truely undulating, all the way it's either up or down, well until the last K which has a dodgy road surface. We set off, there wasn't even much of a sprint start, and it wasn't very long before I was away on my own. It suited me, by the time I was thinking about how hard I should be pushing it on the hills, I already had a good gap, I finished a minute clear. Paul and a few other younger athletes were in a group together at the start, but this was a day when experience told, I think he's getting back into things now and should be back to form in a little while.

Anna Lewis looked strong at the finish, and it was a good work out for Sian before we leave for Slovenia. I think there is more action in the 10 Mile, certainly the times seem suggest that, 55 mins is a good time, and Jon James was second.

... so now it's time to think about the next week's training, and getting the balance between speed work tuning and staying free of injury (at least injury that would slow me down in Slovenia).
