I retained the MOD XC Champs, if a little less easily than last year. I think there is a feeling that there is a certain amount of inevitability about the finishing order- most runners don't want to let their team down, and a few of us that run because we think we can finish well up, and the result is that everybody has a solid run. So it wasn't long before I was a little way in front with Steve Norris and Colin Dixon close behind. Steve looks in cracking track form as he transitions into Masters, but Colin and myself probably have the edge in longer races. Eventually the positions seemed clear cut, and I confidently pushed on in the later stages. Colin was second to please the Portsdown contingent, and Steve came sprinting in shortly after. Andy Longthorpe is struggling with injury, but other than that there weren't too many surprises. It was a fine day for running, and the event was excellent. There were plenty of news snippets from the Hampshire League, Colin has been going very well, and there a lot of MOD athletes who know what happens there. It was a very enjoyable afternoon, and every employer should encourage people to stay healthy this way!!
