Dan Robinson clocked 23.40 - after running the whole race without anybody near him! I was a distant, but creditable second in 25.13 with Jeremy Bradley getting back to fitness in 25.24 not far behind. Wendy Nicholls 26.56 made sure there were elite winners in both races, with both the mens and womens course record going! (in fact I feel a bit left out, perhaps Terry doesn't keep a record of the M45 times on the course). Dan set off like a man possessed (or possibly just the elite athlete he is), and after about 100 yards he was on his own. He gently stretched the lead for a mile or so, possibly over the hilly section, and really got into his stride after about two miles where the course is fairly flat ... and that was the last I saw of him on the twisty course. Jeremy has been injured and is getting fitter, but isn't 100% yet - and was close behind for all of the race after the first few yards. Sian was a lot happier with her run, but Wendy was up with the men, indeed she led the Cirencester contingent home! I guess it depends how you look at it - this was either a quiet afternoon with Terry and friends or a small group of elite athletes running serious times on a Saturday afternoon. ...anyway at least for the moment I can logon to athleticsdata.com and read the M45 5 mile rankings for the year with a smile. I still feel I've a faster time in my legs, but it's on paper that counts, and one thing I've realised since I've been 40 is that whatever your fitness you need the opportunity to record the time.
