It's been a funny sort of break this year, I managed to lay the kitchen floor without too much trauma, and even fixed up an outside power socket for some pretty lights by the decking, ...but we've been plagued by nagging computer problems. I've learnt that our cable modem (that's the one that played up just before Christmas 2006) can be reset by typing http://192.168.100.1/gscan.cgi?freq=0 into the browser address, I wouldn't try it unless you're on Virgin Media - used to be Telewest, and you have a Scientific Atlanta DPX100 cable modem. You get a success message, assuming it works, and then you can look at the frequencies using 192.168.100.1/gscan.htm This seems a much better way of sorting the thing out than putting in a frequency yourself. There are other computer problems, but they relate to Windows - why people used to say Unix was too complicated is beyond me! .and so running has had to fit in between all this, but it was a good Boxing day morning at Stoke St Gregory, after I initially was a little disappointed not to be running at Clevedon. Ironically the biggest mistake I made was to take my new lightweight Brooks racers to do a 4 mile race and then run a 10K - they are very light, I'll be keeping them for 5K, they are a bit too light for longer races at my age. The Downs handicap was half way between a training session and a race this year, we had spent a very good evening at the Insall's the day before, and perhaps weren't really "up for it" anyway, but the Hangover 10K was only a few days later and my time was respectable there. ...and now it's almost time to go back to work, it will be four weeks between circuits next Wednesday, that will be hard work. I'm still hoping to do some indoors this winter when I'm 45 - we'll see how easy it is to not do Cross Country...
