I carefully made the annual visit to Pyestock today, winning the MOD Champs. Colin Dixon was second, I think he was happy in second place, and Andy Burles and Andy Longthorpe were close together in third and fourth.

The course was frozen in parts, most of it was much harder than usual, and one stretch resembled a moonscape with some sort of building work. This also disrupted the start and finish, making the length 10K rather than the traditional 6 miles. I think the frozen surface made some of us a little more cautious than usual, and I did feel a little sympathy for the two Andys who were battling it out for third - although they didn't seem to mind.

It was good to see two senior women in the first three, either side of Belinda Tull.

I'm glad to be home, there were so many road works on the way, and at one point on the motorway a bird flew into the windscreen, I was surprised it didn't do any damage, but now I'm home before the snow, and the Gwent on Saturday is looking unlikely...
