Tom Russell and Joanne Harvey deserve all the congratulations they get for their fine athletic performances, but it was a day when the weather dominated, and it just wasn't much fun. It's a shame, the mens race in particular was a quality field, and there were good fields for most of the races, but the times were hampered by the slippery conditions, and there will be few fond memories of the day - unless you had a good race result. It was a strange old day, the days before had been dry so that there wasn't much mud, but the slippery surface was very difficult - well at least for me, and the field was tightly packed enough that it was difficult to get a good straight run in the early laps. I had been trying to take photos of the other races but even that was difficult in he rain. It was good to see Rob getting back towards some form, and it was Kevin's first race since the summer. Most of the vets were running in the home international, looking at the results Simon was only 8 secs behind me, although neither of us even saw each other during the race. Gerry was third. Sian ran fine, but she's not a fan of cross country, never mind that sort of weather.
