The CSSC road relay was a good run out for me, and I managed to move the MOD team up a place to second. HMRC won by a reasonably safe margin, and GCHQ were third. It was a good race, from the start HMRC (I think that's Revenue) seemed to have the edge, Andy Longthorpe got us away well, but there was still a gap to the lead. We felt we had a solid team, as did GCHQ and with Jeremy Bradley on the third leg they were going well in second. As the race developed we looked good for third as we had a good tail. Our middle order, Andy Burles and James Wallace fought very hard and Steve Norris was soon established in third. I was a little lucky to get us into second, while HMRC were safe enough in the lead, and their team performance deserved the victory. The pace is always hotter with Marc, Lewis and the Swansea boys in town, but it's good to see Jeremy in terrific form, and James W making a good debut in the MOD team. ... and seemingly against the odds Bakers Dolphin have a decent number of passengers on the bus to London again, so it looks as if I'll be able to get a cup of coffee on the way for the foreseeable future - I'm intrigued as to how they have got these fares back, perhaps megabus have too many poor buses in ratio to the posh new ones.
