The National 6 Stage relays were very exciting today. Bristol finished third behind Newham and Tipton, with Rob moving up from fourth to third on the last lap. The full results are at http://www.race-results.co.uk/results/2006/index.htm
Things did work out well this year, although Christian Nicholson and Nigel Leighton couldn't run, Martin Cox was available for the first time for a while and Phil Wilie is a big talent that has only emerged (from triathlon) in the last few weeks. Robbie, Kevin and John Ward all had good runs, and the team won bronze medals.
The girls finished 8th, Lucy ran the fastest time in the team, even though she didn't look at her best. Heidi looked in good form on the final leg, running the second fastest time in the team.
Personally I was glad to get around in a reasonable time, even though I was the slowest in the team. I'm well on the road to recovery following the marathon, but is going to take a while. We did finish second B team, as did the women's young team - and Sian's time was very respectable compared to the other Bristol girls.
On the vet front Darren Bilton was flying and Keith Newton was comfortably faster than me - so I know I need to balance recovering and working hard in training before Falkirk.
....and lastly the boys tells me that Nigel is running in Houston in February, I think that needs a little more investigation.
